Surf camp Portugal is held in Peniche, which is situated just one hour’s drive to the north of Lisbon, on a peninsula surrounded by long sandy beaches on both sides. Peniche area is famous for the reason that there are a dozen various surf spots stretched on only a few kilometers of coast, so you can easily find your wave. With the ocean, beaches, and waves from your dreams all around you, you’ll quickly get used to the surf lifestyle, and if you are too tired to surf all day long, we recommend you to explore and get to know better this beautiful country. You can go for a day trip to Lisbon, explore towns and the coast around Peniche (Obidos, Nazare, etc.), go to the nature reserve on Berlenga islands, and there are still a bunch of other options that we will show you around. If you want to check out nightlife after surfing, choose between Peniche or beach bars in Baleal where you can relax after a day spent on the beach.

FLIGHT TICKETS:

Return flight from your city of residence is not included in the price. There are numerous flight options to Lisbon with different airlines which you can find on Momondo flight search website. DATES:

We have prepared 12 recommended weeks for season 2025., from 17th of May to 28th of June and from 6th of September to 18th of October. Arrivals and departures are on Saturdays and you can stay for 7 or more nights.

PRICE:

The surf camp price for the duration of 7 nights with 6 days of surf school is 520€. For everybody who wants to stay longer, there is an option for 14 nights of accommodation with 12 days of school which costs 1040€. If you have any special wishes with a different number of days in school or nights in the surf house, just send us an inquiry for price calculation at info@koholasurf.com. We would recommend you to stay longer than one week in the camp for better improvement of your surfing skills.

PENICHE

Surfing in Peniche began in the sixties when several unknown Australians came to town with surfboards and started to ride the local waves. Peniche locals, adventurous as they are and always ready for new challenges, didn’t want just to stay on the side and soon they tried new sports with equipment borrowed from the Australians. Since then, surfing is an integral part of life in this place, and many of the best Portuguese surfers and bodyboarders visit it. Thanks to the great location (about 90 km north of Lisbon) and a large number of spots, Peniche is an excellent destination for all surfers, from beginners to professionals.

SURF SCHOOL 

School is going to be held by an experienced Portuguese instructor in the English language, and each day he will take you to the spot with the best conditions for your surfing skills. Wave quality depends on wind and swell directions, tides, and the size of the waves, and in the end, it depends on the potential crowd factor. Your instructor will take care to avoid crowds and find ideal conditions to catch your first waves. Peniche and its surroundings are the best regions for surfing in Portugal because of the doze surf spots situated on a relatively short stretch of the coast.

What is included in the surf school? 

• 5 days of surf lessons – (theoretical + practical part)
• transport to the beach
• complete equipment – surfboard and wetsuit (you can use them all day long, not just in surf school)

FOOD

Since surfing is a pretty exhausting sport, it is important to eat quality meals, and we will take care of that. Before the morning session, breakfast will be prepared (cereals, fruit, hot sandwiches etc.), and when you come back home hungry after an afternoon session, a delicious dinner will be served – every day a new specialty. If there will be some interest, there is a possibility of preparing a barbecue.

SURF HOUSE

Our surf house is situated in the small village Baleal, just a few kilometers north of Peniche. It has 4 guest rooms for 2, 3, or 4 persons, a fully equipped kitchen, and four bathrooms. In the lounge area with free Wi-Fi, you can relax while watching TV, reading a surf magazine, or just hanging out with the rest of the guests on the terrace in the back of the house.

Once when your application is completed, we will contact you with further instructions about the advance payment and purchase of airline tickets. When registering please write down the email that you use the most often because most communications will take place by email. In the case of filling up all capacities, the person who first sent us a down payment has priority. Please don’t forget to read the General Travel Conditions and specify whether you agree.

RESERVATION AND PAYMENT

The deadline for full payment and purchase of flight tickets for all camps is 14 days before your arrival. A deposit in the amount of 150€ needs to be paid up to 7 days after booking confirmation. Please wait until we contact you to arrange details regarding your time of arrival before purchasing flight tickets.
